FreeIndex: your business needs to be on this!

I am feeling generous today, so I thought I would share some seriously valuable intel with you (if you aren't already in the loop on this one).

I want to tell you about a free web directory. If you're a small business owner and you promote your services on the internet, you will probably know there are literally thousands of directory sites out there. At the top of the tree you have the household names such as Yell.com and Yahoo! Local and at the bottom there are the forgettable directories that are too numerous to mention - and, let's face it, only serve one purpose and that is to provide us small business owners with backlinks to our sites.

Well, there is one directory service that is seriously worthy of your attention. It's called FreeIndex and it is unlike the other free directories out there. It isn't just there to make a quick buck for the webmaster. It is a serious business directory that is growing at a phenomenal rate, and if the likes of Yell and Yahoo! aren't already worried about it, they should be. Just look at the remarkable facts proudly stated on the FreeIndex homepage:

Over 1.2 million visitors come to FreeIndex every month looking for business information. Over 240,000 businesses have joined already, and every month FreeIndex generates upwards of 450,000 business leads in total.

Wow. You show me another free directory service that can give you stats like that and I'll eat my hat (though I'd have to go out and buy one first). To back up these claims, there are the testimonials received by FreeIndex almost daily from satisfied customers, and on top of that, FreeIndex has a respectable page ranking of 6 - highly impressive for a site that charges you nothing at all to advertise with them.

So what's the catch? Truly, there isn't one. It really is free and always will be (another proud statement from its attractive homepage). They make their money from discreet adverts placed around the frame of the site (and those advertisers must be happy too, being seen by a million people every month!). So you don't pay anything at all, and yet in return you get so much. I'll list a few perks just to whet your appetite:

You get your own page on the site. That's right - a page. Not 100 words. You can go into great detail about your business here, and even better, you now get your own web address (yourname.freeindex.co.uk) which points to this page. FOR FREE! How generous is that?!

You get free widgets. This is is probably the most awesome aspect of FreeIndex and I think the key to their success. Their widgets allow you to show off your FreeIndex ranking (based on ratings) and even display the most recent comments from your customers. Providing you run a good, honest business, you are likely to do well on FreeIndex - and of course, the more widgets that are added to customers' sites, the more links go back to FreeIndex, and the stronger their page ranking. Now that's just genius.

Loads of web stats. When you log into your account you see detailed statistics about the number of visits to your page and, more importantly, the number of click throughs to your site.

Direct leads to your inbox. Potential customers can contact you via FreeIndex. Trust me, you really do get leads too, and no spam whatsoever due to the strict measures that the site has put in place.

These are just a few of the positives - you can find out the rest by registering, if you haven't already. Like all great sites, FreeIndex just works. Directory sites in general have a bad rep and most of them deserve it. They all look the same, they rank badly and they clutter up the internet. In contrast, FreeIndex came out of nowhere, with a clear vision of what a directory can do, and they have really nailed it. They've become hugely successful and yet they charge you nothing. It's all built around trust, word of mouth and good service - and you've got to respect that.
